Together, Jen and Smith have a new English Bulldog and a new apartment. Individually they have an eating and drinking problem (Smith), a spending problem (Jen), and a rationalization problem that encourages them to each let the other's vices slide in exchange for continuing their own. Their weekly appointments at obedience school yield no form of obedience from their dog, Kilgore, but mercifully are canceled and refunded after the instructor crushes a small dog to death.
